Twilight Road Trip
Liu Chih-Hung’s verdant oil paintings
By Kate Mothes
Taipei-based artist Liu Chih-Hung’s small-scale paintings evoke a sense of curiosity in the textures, colors, and subtle mysteries of plants and landscapes. With titles like ‘Road Trip’ and ‘Phantom of the Trees,’ there is a sense of the artist and viewer as temporary visitors, prizing out the details of a palm frond or the glare of light on a stand of trees before moving along through the gloaming.
